About the course

Most senior decisions carry a number. This programme is for people who make those decisions without a finance background and want to stop taking the finance team's word for it.

Over three days, you will learn to read financial statements, judge performance from them, and build and defend a budget. Taught through worked examples rather than theory.

  • Assess an investment case on its merits

For an organisation, the result is better financial judgement at the level where the decisions are actually made.

Who it is for

Managers, team leaders, project managers and senior professionals who make or influence decisions with financial consequences and who have never been formally trained in finance.

The programme

Days one and two are taught sessions on financial and management accounting, with applied exercises throughout, led by Durham University Business School faculty. Day three is a guided walk through the City of London. We meet at 10:00 for two hours through the Square Mile, looking at where the institutions sit and how money moves between them.
